SS Rajamouli ‘Honoured’ As RRR Gets Adapted Into Broadway Play In Japan – Watch

In another moment of pride for SS Rajamouli’s RRR, the Oscar-winning film has been adapted into a Broadway play in Japan. Takarazuka Revue, an all-female musical theatre group in Japan, took the initiative to adapt his blockbuster film into a play. Rajamouli, who recently arrived in Japan, also attended the play and shared a heartwarming post on social media, expressing his gratitude. The celebrated director also shared glimpses from the show and posed with the artists.

“It’s an honour that our RRR has been adapted as a musical by the 110 year old Takarazuka company. Thank you Japanese audiences for embracing the Broadway play of RRR just like the film itself. Overwhelmed by your response… Can’t appreciate all the girls enough for your energy, talent, and meticulousness in the show. ARIGATO GOZAIMASU,” Rajamouli wrote on X.

The first video showed the audience clapping loudly for the director, while Rajamouli could be seen smiling, clapping and greeting the crowd with folded hands. Another video showed him exiting the venue as people gave him a standing ovation.

Lastly, he shared a picture where he could be seen posing with the actors. All of them were in white outfits. For the occasion, the filmmaker chose a blue kurta and paired it with a colourful shawl.

Following Rajamouli’s update, fans took to the comment section and applauded the director. Users also congratulated the film for such a big achievement.

Notably, this came days after Rajamouli attended a special screening of RRR in Japan. He also shared pictures of the event, where he received a warm reception from fans. The filmmaker also got a special gift from one of them.

Talking about RRR, the period drama film was released in Japan in October 2022, months after its premiere in India. It has earned over 400 million yen (Rs 23 crore) at the Japanese box office and continues to attract fans. The film focuses on the story of two Indian revolutionaries – Alluri Sitarama Raju (Ram Charan) and Komaram Bheem (Jr NTR) set in the background of the pre-Independence era. RRR also has Alia Bhatt and Ajay Devgn playing significant roles.

RRR scripted history by winning the Best Original Song Award for ‘Naatu Naatu’ at the Academy Awards last year.
