How to speed up your Android smartphone

If your smartphone is pretty old, then there are chances that you are facing some performance issues. There are several factors that you can fix to get a better-performing phone even if your smartphone is ageing. With time, your device tends to slow down. So, you can check out some of the below-mentioned tips that will help speed up your Android phone.

How to improve your Android phone’s performance

Factory reset

Factory reset is one of the best options that one can consider to get a refreshing experience. However, for this, you will have to put in extra efforts and it will take time to set up your smartphone. Once you reset your smartphone, you will notice a big difference. The apps will launch open at a faster rate, multi-tasking will be smoother, and you feel like you are using a new device.

Before that, you first need to back up all your data. Don’t worry, you will not lose your data and the restoring process is also simple. One can simply upload all the photos and videos to Google Photos. The contacts can be saved to Gmail, so your contacts will automatically be restored whenever you will log in to your Google account on your phone. If the “Backup” option is enabled on your Google account, then your apps, SMS messages and call history will also get backed up to your account.

This doesn’t mean that you won’t have to go through the log-in process for each app. You won’t have to download all your old apps as Google will automatically do that for you when you will log in to your account while setting up the phone. This could be a little annoying for you, but you will get a better experience after applying the factory reset feature.

Users are advised to save the id and password of all the services before factory resetting their smartphone. One should also first double-check if all the data is backed up online or not. It is always better to double-check your backup space before deleting anything if you don’t want to lose your data. There are times when you back up something and a few things are missing. Backing up data online would be a better option.

Update to the latest software

One should never skip software updates as they help fix several bugs and bring stability, which in a way will offer you a better performance. You also sometimes get new features, which will further improve your smartphone experience and make it easier for you to do something. These software updates do make a difference, which might not be visible to you.

Keep your storage clean

It is important to keep your phone’s storage space clean, otherwise, the system will slow down. You should first check the remaining storage space in the settings section, and if it is almost full, then this is one of the reasons why you must be experiencing performance issues. So, why you can’t use all the storage space?

Your device needs some amount of storage space to run apps or perform an action or save new files/app data. So, if your phone’s storage is full, your phone will feel sluggish. Don’t worry, it doesn’t take a lot of time to free up some space.

You can simply uninstall some of the unnecessary apps, and clear app cache files. The latter can be done by long-pressing on an app > tap on App info > Storage space > Clear Cache. People generally have years of photos and videos on their smartphones, so they can delete some of the videos or photos to make some storage space. All this will help offer a sluggish-free performance.

Use Lite versions of apps

One can also consider installing the Lite versions of heavy apps like Instagram, Facebook and others. The Lite versions will consume less data, load faster and improve response. Don’t worry, you won’t sacrifice key features. You get a minimal interface, but you also might miss out on a few camera features, filters and other things.

What else?

One should try and use minimal widgets and avoid live wallpapers as these not only make some impact on your phone’s performance but also consume battery to a certain extent which is not noticeable. If you don’t use Google feed, which is usually visible when swiping right on the phone, then you can disable that as well. If you will keep your smartphone clean and refrain from performing any extra function, then will also help improve your experience.

You can also turn off auto-update for apps in the Play Store, remove heavy titles (graphically demanding games like PUBG and Genshin Impact) from background, and close an editing app as heavy background tasks could also make your device feel sluggish if you have a low-end phone with decent processing power.
