GURUGRAM: A private air adventure company on Tuesday announced it would launch a ‘joyride’ chopper service for a 10-minutes bird’s-eye view tour of the city and the picturesque Aravali ranges that surround it.
The company, Modair, said it expects to launch the service on November 6 from a private helipad in Sector 77 near the Manesar toll plaza. The company said it has obtained mandatory permissions from the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) and has 12 choppers for the soon-to-begin service.
Atul Jain, the chairman of Modair, told TOI, “We will launch an exclusive luxurious helicopter joyride service in Gurgaon… We aim to boost air tourism by presenting an opportunity to enjoy the blend of stunning views and the skyscrapers of the Millennium City in a unique way.” The rides, he said, will be priced at Rs 5,500 per person.
Surrounded by the Aravalis, the city provides a perfect landscape for tourists who love nature, Jain said, adding that the private helipad is located just 200 metres from Manesar toll plaza. “People used to travel abroad for such adventure air tourism, but now, through this service, they can fulfil their dream here,” he added.
Varun Mittal, CEO of Modair, said the company is coordinating with DGCA and IGI authorities, and there is no permission required from the state government as of now. “Once we start flying, the company will submit the air route plan with the local authorities,” he added.
