Man & wife jump into river with 2 kids in Andhra Pradesh

ELURU: A man and his wife along with their two children committed suicide by jumping into the river Godavari from Chinchinada bridge in West Godavari district. The police suspect that family disputes might be the reason for the suicide pact. It is suspected that they must have jumped into the river on July 30.


After finding an abandoned bike, clothes and chappals on the bridge, police launched a search operation and found two bodies in the river by Sunday evening. Police suspended the operation during the night and it would be resumed on Monday morning to trace the other family members.


The river is in spate with heavy flood discharge from the upstream. The police found a suicide note written by the woman alleging that they were cheated by some persons. Palacole rural police sub-inspector K Srinivas said Kanchi Satish (38), his wife Sandhya (28), son Jaswin (4) and Bindu Sri Durga (2) went missing on July 30 and their relatives lodged a complaint with the police on July 31 night after searching for them in vain.


Meanwhile, the police found an abandoned motorcycle and clothes of the missing persons on Chinchinada bridge. Then the police launched a search operation and found the bodies of Satish and Bindu Sri Durga on Sunday. Satish returned from the Gulf where he was worked till July 20. It is suspected that there were family disputes. Sandhya was staying in her mother’s home in Achanta.


Satish called his wife and children to his relatives house at Velivala in Palacole mandal on July 29. They stayed there till July 30. The family left the village saying that they were going to Guntur. A probe has been started.
