Sachin Tendulkar along with his few India Legends’ teammate had tested positive for COVID-19 after taking part in the Road Safety World Series.
A week after being admitted in a hospital due to COVID-19, Sachin Tendulkar on Thursday was discharged from the hospital. The legendary batsman will now continue his COVID-19 recovery from home. The Master Blaster had tested positive for the virus on March 27.
“I have just come home from the hospital and will remain isolated while continuing to rest and recuperate. I would like to thank everyone for all the good wishes and prayers,” read a statement by the cricketer on his Twitter.
The former India cricketer was hospitalised on April 2, which also marked the tenth anniversary of India’s 2011 World Cup triumph.
Tendulkar along with his few India Legends’ teammate had tested positive for the virus after taking part in the Road Safety World Series, which his side won by defeating Sri Lanka in the finals.
Former India all-rounder Irfan Pathan, his elder brother Yusuf, S Badrinath were among others who had tested positive for the virus.
Road Safety World Series is a private tournament that didn’t have BCCI approval as it was only meant for retired cricketers. The worst part was that the organisers didn’t restrict crowd movement even when BCCI made the later part of England series a closed-door affair. Spectators were not wearing mask and questions are being raised as to what kind of bio-bubble was created by the organisers of the Road Safety World Series.
