The employees of the state run transportation are protesting against the governments failure to implement a salary under the 6th Pay Commission.
Bengaluru: Employees of Bangalore Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC), Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC), North Western Karnataka Road Transport Corporation (NWKRTC) and North Eastern Karnataka Road Transport Corporation (NEKRTC) have declared a strike starting from April 7th 2021 under the banner of Karnataka State Road Transport Employees League.

side from which, KSRTC employees are demanding for salary hike, permanent job, wages and shifts. These employees are working as contract workers in the department.
“Transport employees have given a call to go on strike from Wednesday, the chief minister held a discussion in this regard, we are requesting employees not to go on strike keeping COVID-19 situation in mind. They had nine demands, eight of them have been fulfilled and implemented,” chief secretary P Ravi Kumar said, reported news agency PTI.
According to ANI, even after several meetings the transport association and organisation and the transport minister, state Deputy Chief Minister along with Chief Minister nothing fruit came out.
A Mint report quoted chief minister B S Yediyurappa as saying, “Without giving room for the government to take strict measures, drop the strike and cooperate with the administration”
To avoid inconvenience the government has issued temporary permits to private operators to run on assigned routes. The government asked districts to take appropriate steps to operate these private buses and school buses. The government also requested the railways for special trains to places like Kalaburagi, Belagavi, Hubballi, Mysuru among others, according to PTI.
Although according to media reports, several universities including Bangalore University, Bengaluru Central University have postponed the examinations which were scheduled for today.
