The winter wave has hit the northern parts of India late in December this year. And with the winter chill, comes disruption of travel activities. Delhi and its adjoining areas woke up to dense fog on Wednesday morning, significantly impacting travel plans. Due to the reduced visibility, the Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport issued an advisory warning of possible disruptions to flights, particularly those not compliant with CAT III technology.
CAT III, a sophisticated approach system, ensures safe landings during low visibility conditions. Flights without this feature may face delays or cancellations, the airport advisory said, urging passengers to stay updated by contacting their airlines.
Footage from the Dwarka Expressway in Delhi revealed severely low visibility, with other areas like Ghaziabad, Noida, and Gurugram also blanketed in thick haze. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), Delhi recorded a minimum temperature of nine degrees Celsius on Wednesday morning.
