Why updating Aadhaar is important
UIDAI has consistently emphasised on the importance of keeping Aadhaar details accurate and up-to-date. Aadhaar, a 12-digit unique identification number issued by the Government of India, is essential for accessing numerous services and benefits, including enrolling in government welfare schemes, filing income tax returns, booking travel tickets and so on. So keeping detailed updates will help you in keeping your identification proof up to date.
Additionally, regular updates to Aadhaar ensure the accuracy of the information linked to Aadhaar holder. This further reduces the risk of misuse, fraud, and identity-related errors. The UIDAI encourages all Aadhaar holders, particularly those whose cards were issued over a decade ago or minors who have turned 15, to take advantage of this extended deadline and update their details promptly. With the free update window open until June 14, 2025, residents are urged to review their information and make the necessary changes online.
