Homegrown brand Lava has launched its latest budget smartphone, the Lava Blaze Duo 5G, in India. The Blaze Duo is a more affordable Lava Agni 3 with two AMOLED screens, one on the front and another on the back. It takes on Xiaomi Redmi Note 14 5G and gives it a run for money with faster storage and a lower price tag.

Lava Blaze Duo 5G: Price, availability
The Blaze Duo comes in two memory configurations, 6GB and 8GB of RAM, both with 128GB of UFS3.1 storage. The base 6GB/128GB variant is priced at Rs 16,999 while the top-end 8GB/128GB model will set you back by Rs 18,999. General availability is pegged for December 20, 2024, on Amazon.

Lava Blaze Duo 5G: Specs, features
The Blaze Duo has a 6.67-inch 1080p 3D curved AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate. A 1.58-inch “secondary” screen sits on the back next to the cameras. Lava’s product listing page says it can be used as a viewfinder to take selfies using the rear camera, to receive calls, get notifications, control music. It gives you “10 dial selection options with steps tracker and battery percentage information.” The feature-set seems similar to the Agni 3’s with the difference that there the screen size is slightly bigger (1.74 versus 1.58).

Powering the Lava Blaze Duo 5G is the MediaTek Dimensity 7025. Xiaomi uses the same chip inside the Redmi Note 14 5G with an “ultra” branding. Lava’s phone has an edge in terms of storage type. It is using UFS3.1, not UFS2.2. The software is near stock Android 14 and the phone is “upgradable to Android 15.” Battery capacity is 5,000mAh and there is support for 33W fast charging.
The Blaze Duo has a 64-megapixel camera on the back and a 16-megapixel camera on the front. Biometrics are handled by an in-display fingerprint reader. The phone has a mono speaker out and no headphone jack. Connectivity options include: 5G, Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth 5.2. It comes in a choice of Celestial Blue and Arctic White.
