PM Awaas Yojana 2.0: How to apply online for urban areas; eligibility, required documents, and more

In a bid to provide financial assistance for constructing pucca houses in urban areas for the Economically Weaker Section (EWS) and middle-class families under the Pradhan Mantri Awaas Yojana (PMAY), the second phase, or PMAY 2.0, in urban areas has been launched and approved by the Union Cabinet led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on August 9, 2024. Through this measure, the government will provide Rs 1 crore in city areas. According to the Ministry of Housing & Urban Affairs, Rs 2.30 lakh per unit will be sanctioned.

  1. Aadhaar details of the applicant and family members
  2. Active bank account of the applicant
  3. Aadhaar linked to the bank account
  4. Income proof certificate
  5. Caste certificate
  6. Land document (if applying for financial assistance to construct on your land)

PM Awas Yojana 2.0: How to apply for the scheme online

Here is the step-by-step guide to applying for the PM Awas Yojana scheme for urban areas:

Step 1: To apply or register for PM Awas Yojana 2.0, first visit the official website: pmaymis.gov.in/PMAYMIS2_2024/PMAY-urban-2.html.

Step 2: After opening the website, locate the Apply for PMAY-U 2.0 icon on the interface.

Step 3: Read the instructions of the scheme carefully and proceed.

Step 4: Check eligibility by providing details, including annual income.

Step 5: Enter your Aadhaar details for verification.

Step 6: After verification, fill out the registration form with details such as address and income proof.

Step 7: Submit the form and wait for your application status.

Under the scheme, Rs 1.18 crore houses have been sanctioned, and over 85.5 lakh houses have already been constructed and delivered to beneficiaries in the previous phase in urban areas.

The scheme will be implemented in different verticals across India, such as Beneficiary-Led Construction (BLC), Affordable Housing in Partnership (AHP), Affordable Rental Housing (ARH), and the Interest Subsidy Scheme (ISS).
