The Noida International Airport (NIAL) successfully conducted its first flight validation test on December 9, as reported by ANI. This test, which took place several months ahead of the official commercial opening scheduled for April 2025, involved an IndiGo flight from Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGIA) to NIAL.
The test provided final security-related analysis for the airport, and the aircraft landed between 1-2 pm after all necessary checks were approved by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA). Jewar Airport: Opening Date
The Noida International Airport in Jewar is now expected to start operations on April 17, 2025, according to media reports. Earlier, the airport was planned to open in September 2024, but the timeline was revised due to delays in the delivery of construction equipment and materials, which affected the project schedule.
Jewar Airport: Budget
The Uttar Pradesh government has allocated significant funds in its 2024-25 budget to improve connectivity and promote air travel. An amount of ₹1,150 crore has been set aside for land acquisition and construction of the Noida International Airport (NIA) in Jewar, Gautam Budh Nagar.
Additionally, ₹914 crore has been allocated for the ongoing Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS) project to enhance intracity transportation. These investments aim to support infrastructure development and boost regional connectivity.

Jewar Airport: Location
The Noida International Airport is being built in the town of Jewar, located in the Gautam Buddha Nagar district of Uttar Pradesh. Jewar lies on the northeastern banks of the Yamuna River, near the suburbs of Greater Noida.
This strategic location places the airport within proximity to the National Capital Region (NCR), making it easily accessible for travelers from Delhi, Noida, and other nearby areas.
The town’s position near the Yamuna River enhances its connectivity to major infrastructure projects, including expressways and proposed metro links, which will make reaching the airport faster and more convenient.
Additionally, Jewar’s selection for this project underscores the government’s focus on expanding aviation facilities in less congested regions while boosting economic development and job opportunities in this part of Uttar Pradesh.
