The e-Shram scheme, launched by the Ministry of Labour and Employment, aims to support workers in the unorganised sector of India. Under this initiative, the central government provides a monthly transfer of ₹1,000 to eligible workers’ e-Shram accounts. This benefit is specifically designed for workers who have not been part of any labour department initiative, helping them save money and support themselves and their families.

Eligible individuals can apply for an e-Shram card, which offers several benefits, including death insurance, a pension after 60 years and other financial aid in case of incapacity.
All workers aged between 16 and 59 years can register for this initiative. Notably, they should not be a member of the Employees’ Provident Fund Organization (EPFO)/Employee State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) or the National Pension Scheme (NPS).
The documents required to apply for an e-Shram card are the Aadhaar card, bank account, work details and a few additional documents. The e-Shram card serves as proof of employment, social security coverage, and eligibility for government benefits.
