The India Meteorological Department has predicted that a low-pressure area lies over the southeast Bay of Bengal and the nearby east Equatorial Indian Ocean. This weather condition is likely to bring heavy spells to Southern India from December 10 to 13, 2024. The IMD has also warned that because of the western disturbance, moderate showers or snowfall is expected to cover the Western Himalayan Region from 8 December to 11 December. Moreover, isolated light rains may occur over Punjab, Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, and Chandigarh from December 8 to December 9.
Rainfall Forecast
Light to average downpours with isolated intense rainfall are likely to happen in Tamil Nadu, Karaikal, and Puducherry from 10 December to 13 December. Heavy showers are expected to cover coastal Tamil Nadu on 12 December. Similar weather conditions are likely to take place in Yanam and Coastal Andhra Pradesh from December 11 to December 12. Moderate precipitation is expected over Kerala and Mahe from December 11 to 13 December.

Dense fog and cold wave warnings
According to the Met Department notification, dense fog is likely to cover Jharkhand, Haryana, Punjab, and Chandigarh from December 8 to December 10, Uttar Pradesh may experience it from December 9 to December 12. The northeast regions like Tripura, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Assam, Manipur, and Nagaland might witness it on December 9. Likewise, dense fog is expected to be present in Himachal Pradesh from December 10 to 12 December and Sikkim and Sub-Himalayan West Bengal will have it till December 10.
Isolated pockets of North Rajasthan are forecast to have cold wave conditions from December 9 to 13 December.

Delhi/NCR weather alert
The national capital recorded its coldest night of this season with a minimum temperature of 7.1 degrees Celsius. Light showers are expected for Sunday and the temperature is likely to vary from 8 degrees Celsius and 24 degrees Celsius. Shallow fog is likely to be there in the morning and mist may be in the evening.
Snowfall Prediction in Himachal Pradesh
The weather department has warned that a fresh western disturbance is likely to result in rain and snow at isolated places in Himachal Pradesh on Sunday and Monday. A yellow alert has been issued for thunderstorms and lightning in Mandi, Una, Shimla, Solan, Hamirpur, Kangra, Sirmaur, and Solan districts for today. Additionally, scattered rainfall has also been projected in districts like Kinnaur, Shimla, Kullu, Lahaul, Spiti, Kangra, and Chamba.
