Why Update Your Aadhaar Before December 14, 2024?
The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) recommends updating your Aadhaar details if it has been over 10 years since your last update. Submitting updated proof of identity and address improves:
- Data Accuracy: Ensures your Aadhaar information is up to date.
- Service Delivery: Enhances efficiency in receiving government and private services.
- Authentication Success: Boosts the success rate of Aadhaar-based verifications.
How to Update Aadhaar Details Online
Follow these steps to update your Aadhaar card online for free:
- Visit the UIDAI Website: Go to myaadhaar.uidai.gov.in.
- Navigate to Update Section: Select ‘My Aadhaar’ and click on ‘Update Your Aadhaar’.
- Access the Update Page: On the ‘Update Aadhaar Details (Online)’ page, choose ‘Document Update’.
- Enter UID and Captcha: Input your Aadhaar number and Captcha code, then click ‘Send OTP’.
- Log in with OTP: Use the OTP sent to your registered mobile number to log in.
- Select Details to Update: Choose the details you want to update (e.g., name, address, or date of birth).
- Submit and Upload Documents: Provide the updated information and upload the necessary documents.
- Submit Request: Click ‘Submit Update Request’ and save the Update Request Number (URN) sent via SMS for tracking your application.
Important Notes
Biometric Updates: Changes to biometrics (iris, fingerprints, mobile number update or photograph) must be done offline.

Date of Birth and Gender: Each can only be updated once.
Offline Update Process
For those who prefer offline updates:
- Download the Form: Get the Aadhaar enrolment/update form from the UIDAI website.
- Visit an Aadhaar Centre: Submit the completed form and necessary documents at the nearest Aadhaar Enrolment Centre or Aadhaar Sewa Kendra.
- Provide Biometrics: Your biometric data will be collected during the visit.
- Receive Acknowledgment: Collect an acknowledgment slip with your URN for tracking your update request.

Is Free Aadhaar Update Last Date Extended?
Initially set to end on June 14, 2024, the free Aadhaar update deadline was extended to September 14, 2024, and now the last date for free Aadhaar update is December 14, 2024. Post this date, a fee will apply for updates.
