IndiGo launches direct daily flights from Chennai to Penang in Malaysia – Check schedule, timings and more

IndiGo’s new route will offer both business and leisure travelers a convenient and affordable way to travel between Chennai and Penang.

IndiGo is set to enhance its connectivity between India and Malaysia with the launch of direct daily flights between Chennai and Penang, starting December 21, 2024. This move comes as part of IndiGo’s broader strategy to expand its presence in Southeast Asia, with Penang becoming its third direct destination in Malaysia after Kuala Lumpur and Langkawi.

Additionally, IndiGo will also resume operations between Bengaluru and Kuala Lumpur from December 21, 2024.

Chennai-Penang flight schedule

IndiGo’s new route will offer both business and leisure travelers a convenient and affordable way to travel between Chennai and Penang. IndiGo’s new direct daily flight service between Chennai and Penang offers convenient timings for travelers. 

Flight No. 6E 1045 departs from Chennai at 02:15 AM and arrives in Penang at 08:30 AM. On the return leg, Flight No. 6E 1046 departs from Penang at 09:30 AM and arrives in Chennai at 10:35 AM. This service will operate daily, providing seamless travel between the two cities.

According to the statement issued by IndiGo, the schedule is subject to change depending on regulatory approvals.

These flights are expected to significantly boost tourism and business travel between India and Malaysia. With India being Malaysia’s fifth-largest source market, IndiGo’s introduction of a direct flight from Chennai to Penang will not only provide a faster and more convenient option for travelers but also strengthen the economic and cultural ties between the two countries. The flight will reduce travel time from approximately 7 hours to just 4 hours.
