Star Indian players, including wicketkeepers Rishabh Pant, Ishan Kishan, and KL Rahul, as well as IPL 2024 winning captain Shreyas Iyer, headline the auction list. Additionally, prominent pacers Mohammed Shami and Arshdeep Singh will also be in high demand. Historically, Indian players have dominated mega auctions, with five out of the top six most expensive purchases being Indian stars.

With several marquee players available this year, those records are poised to be challenged, especially with some franchises carrying substantial budgets.

Past Mega Auction Expensive Signings

  1. Ishan Kishan: Mumbai Indians shelled out Rs 15.25 crore for Ishan Kishan during the 2022 mega auction, the highest-ever amount paid in such an event. Kishan’s prowess as a hard-hitting wicketkeeper-batter made him a crucial asset, particularly after playing a key role in MI’s 2020 title triumph.
  2. Yuvraj Singh: In 2014, Royal Challengers Bangalore acquired Yuvraj Singh for Rs 14 crore. Known for his heroics in the 2007 T20 World Cup and the 2011 ODI World Cup, Yuvraj scored 376 runs and picked up five wickets for RCB that season before moving to Delhi Capitals for Rs 16 crore the following year.
  3. Deepak Chahar: Chennai Super Kings engaged in a fierce bidding war to secure Deepak Chahar for Rs 14 crore in 2022. Unfortunately, injuries kept the medium pacer out for most of the season, limiting his contributions over the subsequent years.
  4. Dinesh Karthik: Delhi Capitals paid Rs 12.50 crore for Dinesh Karthik in 2014 after his standout performances for Mumbai Indians in the previous season. However, Karthik struggled to live up to expectations, tallying 325 runs in 14 matches.
  5. Ben Stokes: The English all-rounder fetched Rs 12.50 crore from Rajasthan Royals in 2018, following a stellar season with Rising Pune Super Giant. Stokes played a pivotal role in guiding the team to the final in 2017, making him a top pick in subsequent auctions.
