IMD Weather Update: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted dense to very dense fog during the night and early morning hours over parts of northwest India, including Punjab, Haryana-Chandigarh, and Himachal Pradesh, until November 23. Foggy conditions are also expected in East Uttar Pradesh until November 19, with dense fog likely over Rajasthan, West Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh until November 20, and Uttarakhand from November 20-23.

IMD predicts rainfall in southern India
In southern India, light to moderate rainfall is anticipated in Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Karaikal, Kerala, and Mahe from November 19 to 20. Isolated heavy rain is likely in Tamil Nadu on November 19 and in the Nicobar Islands on November 22-23. Assam and Meghalaya may witness isolated hailstorms on November 20-21.

Temperature falls, AQI rises in Delhi
The weather department has forecast dense fog for Tuesday in Delhi, with maximum and minimum temperatures expected to reach 24 and 15 degrees Celsius, respectively. Cold winds swept through the city on Monday, giving residents a distinct winter-like experience.
Delhi recorded its lowest daytime temperature of the season on Monday at 23.5 degrees Celsius, which is four degrees below normal, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD). The maximum temperature for the day was 27.2 degrees Celsius, marking the second-lowest high of the season so far, as per IMD data.

Rain, snow likely in tribal areas, higher hills
The Shimla Meteorological (MeT) Station has forecast rain and snow in higher elevations and tribal areas of Himachal Pradesh starting November 22, while dry conditions are expected to prevail in the rest of the state until November 24. The MeT department also issued a warning for dense to very dense fog in specific regions. Heavy fog is anticipated in the Bhakra dam reservoir areas (Bilaspur) during late nights, early mornings, and morning hours from November 19 to 22. Similarly, the Balh Valley (Mandi) is expected to experience foggy conditions during late nights and early mornings from November 19 to 21.
In light of hazardous road conditions caused by black ice, Lahaul and Spiti Deputy Commissioner Rahul Kumar has imposed restrictions on tourist movement across high mountain passes. The Kunzum Pass, which connects Lahaul and Spiti, has been closed to tourists but remains accessible to locals and emergency vehicles during limited hours from 11 AM to 1 PM. Temperatures across the region are predicted to drop further over the next three to four days.
