Indian Railways is all set to introduce the much-awaited Vande Bharat Sleeper trains by year 2025-26, promising a new level of comfort and convenience for long-distance travel. Recently, BEML, the company making these trains, delivered the first Vande Bharat Sleeper train set to the Integral Coach Factory (ICF) in Chennai. This is an important step forward, and U Subba Rao, General Manager of ICF, confirmed the news.

U Subba Rao, General Manager of ICF Chennai, confirmed the development in an exclusive conversation with ETNOW, stating that the newly delivered trainset will undergo rigorous testing. “The train will undergo oscillation trials and other necessary tests over the next two months, starting from November 15. Once the trials are completed, it will be ready for commercial service,” Rao said.
Although Indian Railways hasn’t yet announced the exact routes for these new sleeper trains. It’s expected that the first few services will connect major cities like New Delhi and Pune, or possibly New Delhi and Srinagar.

Who’s Making the Vande Bharat Sleeper Trains ?
The Vande Bharat Sleeper trains are being built by three companies: BEML, Kinet Railway Solutions Ltd, and Titagarh Rail Systems Ltd in collaboration with BHEL. Together, they plan to make a total of 210 sleeper trainsets that will roll out in the coming years, aiming to improve long-distance travel for millions of passengers.
