CBSE Board Exam 2025 Class 10th 12th Syllabus: The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has announced major updates for the 2025 Class 10 and 12 board exams. These changes, unveiled at a principal’s summit in Indore, aim to reduce syllabus load, increase the focus on skill-based assessments, and introduce a revised exam format. The new measures are intended to foster deeper understanding and alleviate the reliance on rote learning among students.

The CBSE is expected to release the datesheet for the 2025 Class 10 and Class 12 board exams soon, with exams scheduled to start on February 15, 2025. Once announced, the official datesheet will be available on CBSE’s website, cbse.gov.in, though an exact release date has not been confirmed yet.

Reduced syllabus to support in-depth learning

According to a report in TOI, CBSE’s Bhopal regional officer, Vikas Kumar Agrawal, has stated that the syllabus for Classes 10 and 12 will be reduced by up to 15%. This adjustment aligns with CBSE’s goal to encourage students to delve deeper into subjects rather than simply covering extensive content. “The syllabus reduction aligns with the board’s evolving educational approach, offering students the opportunity to engage more fully with their subjects,” Agrawal noted.

A significant change is the increase in the weightage of internal assessments to 40%, with the remaining 60% based on final board exams. Internal assessments will include projects, assignments, and periodic tests, fostering a more continuous evaluation process. Agrawal emphasized that “this change encourages steady learning and gives students a better platform to demonstrate their understanding,” aiming to shift focus from high-stakes exams to consistent academic engagement throughout the year.
