Delhi Air Pollution: Several Areas Record AQI Over 400 | Check List

The air quality in the national capital continued to remain ‘Very Poor’ with various areas falling under the ‘Severe’ category.

Several areas in the national capital recorded ‘Severe’ air quality on Thursday morning even as the AQI in the city remained in the ‘Very Poor’ category, as per the Central Pollution Control Board data at 7 am.

Anand Vihar and Ashok Vihar were among those localities in Delhi that saw an AQI of over 400, while various areas remained close to this mark.

The AQI in the capital city was recorded 352 at 4 pm on Wednesday, which deteriorated to 366 at 7 am this morning.

Pollution In Yamuna River

Toxic foam was seen floating on the Yamuna River in Kalindi Kunj, as pollution levels in the river remained high.

The permission to celebrate Chhath Puja was denied by the Delhi High Court on Wednesday due to the contaminated water. The court highlighted that due to the toxic foams in the river, people could fall sick if allowed to perform Puja.

An AQI is considered “Poor” between ‘200 and 300’, “Very Poor” at ‘301 and 400’, “Severe” at ‘401-450,” and 450 and above is “Severe Plus.”
