Madhya Pradesh has been in shock after two rape incidents. The crimes took place in Rewa and in Indore. A newly married woman was gang-raped in Rewa, a mentally ill woman was raped in Indore.

Madhya Pradesh Horror: Two horrific incidents, within the span of two days, have jolted Madhya Pradesh, raising questions about women’s safety in India’s heartland state. The first incident emerged from Rewa, where a newly married woman was gang-raped by five men while she was on an outing with her husband. According to the police, the crime was committed at a popular picnic spot in the city.
As per Rewa Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Himali Pathak, the victim is in the age group of 19-20 and is in college. “The woman got married recently. She and her husband are in the age group of 19-20 and are still in college,” new agency PTI quoted Pathak as saying.

How The Crime Was Committed In A Crowded Place
As per the woman’s statement, after the victim had a fight with her husband five men approached her and started harassing her. The accused men then raped her one by one.
The Police Action
The Assistant Superintendent of Police has reported the arrest of nearly 100 people as part of an ongoing investigation. She referred to the gang-rape incident as a sensitive issue and underscored that every measure is being taken to safeguard the survivor’s identity. The survivor shared crucial information with the police about one of the five suspects, highlighting distinctive tattoos on his hand and chest.
The victim and her husband approached the police at around 1.30 pm on Tuesday.
“The forensic staff and I rushed to the spot. The medical test of the survivor was conducted and an FIR was registered the same day at 7 pm,” DSP said.
None of the accused has been arrested so far. Cops have rounded up more than 100 people and suspects.
Mentally Ill Woman Raped In Indore
In Indore, a woman in her 40s, suffering from mental health issues, was raped by a man half her age. This crime took place under the cover of darkness, in the wee hours of Tuesday, police said on Wednesday.
Alok Kumar Sharma, the Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police, revealed that the suspect, who has already been caught, took advantage of the situation when he saw the woman walking all by herself on the streets.
“He took her with him, raped her and fled,” the police officer said, adding that the victim was found by the police in their patrol vehicle.
Police identified the accused by through CCTV footage and arrested him.
The accused was produced in a local court that remanded him to judicial custody, Sadar Bazar police station in-charge Tarun Singh Bhati said.
The victim will be hospitalised for treatment of mental illness, the police officer said.
