Bihar Traffic Rules: The Bihar Transport Department is set to implement strict measures against those who flout traffic regulations. Vehicle owners must pay their challans within 90 days, failure to do so will result in their vehicles being blacklisted. Once blacklisted, these vehicles will be inoperable for essential services such as fitness tests, pollution checks and ownership transfers.

To enhance traffic monitoring, a new control and command centre has been established near Gandhi Maidan. This facility oversees the issuance of e-challans, allowing for comprehensive surveillance of the traffic system through strategically placed cameras throughout the capital. The cameras will monitor various violations, including failure to wear helmets or seat belts, running red lights, speeding and riding with multiple passengers.

Plans are underway to install 350 Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) cameras across Bihar by April next year. These cameras will be particularly focused on Smart City areas and will also be installed in districts such as Bihar Sharif, Muzaffarpur and Bhagalpur. The Transport Department is currently gathering information from districts to identify key locations for these cameras, with a special emphasis on the Patna area.
ANPR technology enables cameras to read vehicle number plates, making it easier to identify offenders who violate traffic laws.

If you receive a challan, it is crucial to act promptly. Ensure that you pay the fine within the stipulated 90 days. Payments can be made online or at your nearest transport office. Ignoring the challan can lead to serious consequences, including the blacklisting of your vehicle.
