About Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana

Launched in 2016, the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana aims to provide rural households, especially women, with clean and safe cooking fuel by offering subsidized LPG connections. To date, over 10 crore people have benefited from this scheme, significantly improving the lives of rural women by reducing their dependency on traditional cooking methods.

Under PMUY, beneficiaries receive financial support of ₹1,600 when they take a new connection, which also helps them purchase essential equipment for the LPG setup. Additionally, the scheme offers an EMI option for purchasing a gas stove, making it more affordable for rural households.

This Diwali, the government’s initiative is a step toward encouraging cleaner cooking methods while providing financial relief to rural families. Beneficiaries are advised to complete their e-KYC soon to avail themselves of this festive season benefit.
