The New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) raised the parking fees on Tuesday, October 22.
With the dropping levels of Delhi’s AQI, starting today, people parking in Lutyens’ Delhi will have to pay twice the regular charges, The Indian Express reported.

The Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM)) has implemented restrictions under Stage II of the Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP), which includes an increase in parking fees to discourage the use of private vehicles.

Previously, four-wheelers were charged a parking fee of Rs 20 per hour, with a maximum of Rs 100 for 24 hours. This has now been increased to Rs 40 per hour, with a maximum of Rs 200 for 24 hours. For two-wheelers, the fee has doubled from Rs 10 per hour (maximum Rs 50 for 24 hours) to Rs 20 per hour, with a new maximum of Rs 100 for up to 24 hours.
As per the NDMC, these parking rates will not apply to on-street parking sites and monthly pass holders.

The Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) has yet to implement the parking fee hike despite the GRAP II directive. According to sources, the proposal must first be approved by the MCD House before the increase can take effect. In August, a proposal to quadruple parking fees upon the enforcement of GRAP II was presented at an MCD meeting but was postponed, The Indian Express reported.
