Weather Update: IMD issues red alert for Tamil Nadu; Heavy rainfall likely in Kerala, Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh

The India Meteorological Department has warned that there will be extremely heavy rainfall in Tamil Nadu, South Interior Karnataka, and Kerala from 16 October to 17 October. Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Rayalaseema are also expected to witness the same during the period. A red alert has also been issued for Tamil Nadu because of the possibility of intense downpours, whereas, an orange alert has been declared for South Interior Karnataka, Kerala, and Coastal Andhra Pradesh for heavy rain.

Heavy rainfall prediction for South India

The Met Department has forecast there may be extremely heavy showers in Puducherry, Karaikal, and Tamil Nadu on 16 October. Isolated rains may be experienced in Yanam, Coastal Andhra Pradesh, and Rayalaseema for today. Heavy showers are likely to happen in Tamil Nadu, Karaikal, Mahe, Kerala, Puducherry, and South Interior Karnataka from 16 October to 17 October. Likewise, similar weather patterns are likely to be visible in North Interior Karnataka on 16 October and 17 October. Coastal Karnataka might receive it from 16 October to 18 October.

Weather Update for Western India

Moderate rainfall is forecast for Goa and Konkan from 16 October to 17 October. Moreover, dry weather is likely to prevail over Kutch and Saurashtra from 17 October to 21 October.

No major rainfall activity is anticipated in Northeast, Eastern India, and Central India for this whole week.

Delhi Weather Today

The national capital temperature has started to decline as Delhi recorded its lowest temperature in October at 17.4 degrees Celsius on Tuesday. The Weather Department has predicted that there will be a partly cloudy sky for Wednesday with temperatures likely to be between a maximum of 35 degrees Celsius and a minimum of 17 degrees Celsius.
