The iPad Mini 7 starts at Rs 49,900 with general availability pegged for October 23, 2024.
Apple today launched the seventh-generation iPad Mini with a new, more powerful A17 Pro chip and—to no surprise—support for Apple Intelligence AI features. The Apple Pencil Pro—which was launched alongside the iPad Pro and Air updates earlier this year—is also compatible with the new Mini. The base storage has been doubled and you get some new colours in this year’s refresh. The iPad Mini 7 starts at Rs 49,900 with general availability pegged for October 23, 2024.

iPad Mini 7: Specs, features
The iPad Mini 7 has been a long time coming, some might say. Its successor—iPad Mini 6—had come about in 2021. That one was a big overhaul on the design front as Apple moved to a more modern edge-to-edge screen and USB Type-C charging. The iPad Mini 7 keeps the same design while refreshing almost everything on the inside, at least at the core.
Needless to say, one of the biggest update comes by way of the underlying chip. The new iPad Mini bags the A17 Pro chip from the iPhone 15 Pro models. Apple says this should account for a 30 percent boost in CPU performance and a 25 percent jump in graphics over the A15 Bionic inside the iPad Mini 6. Apple Intelligence is supported, too, so presumably the RAM has been upgraded too, possibly to 8GB. Base storage now starts at 128GB (up from 64GB in the last version). It can go up to 512GB.

The other notable ‘feature’ is that the new Apple Pencil Pro also works with the Mini, in addition to the M4 iPad Pro and M2 iPad Air.
The new model also gets Wi-Fi 6E and USB Type-C port that is ‘2x faster’ with data transfers up to 10Gbps.

The rest of the package is mostly familiar. It has flat edges and Touch ID integrated into the top button. The screen is still an 8.3-inch LCD. Rounding off the package are a 12-megapixel front camera and landscape stereo speakers.

iPad Mini 7: Price, availability
The iPad Mini 7 comes in a choice of blue, purple, starlight, and space gray colours while memory-wise, you can get it with 128GB, 256GB, and 512GB storage. The 128GB iPad Mini 7 with Wi-Fi is Rs 49,900, while the 256GB and 512GB models with Wi-Fi cost Rs 59,900 and Rs 79,900 respectively. The iPad Mini 7 with 5G is Rs 64,900 for 128GB, Rs 74,900 for 256GB and Rs 94,900 for 512GB. Pre-orders are going live starting today itself while sale will start from October 23.
