Watch: Two Men Playing Ram And Ravana Exchange Blows During Ramleela In UP’s Amroha

A wave of shock gripped the audience in response to what was supposed to be a dramatic play turning into an actual fight.

Two people playing Lord Ram and Ravana during a Ramleela programme in Uttar Pradesh’s Amroha district ended up fighting on stage. It all started abruptly when the audience noticed the man playing Ravana pushing the man who played Ram.

The video was uploaded on X (formerly Twitter) by the journalist, Sachin Gupta. In the video, Lord Ram and Lakshman’s characters aim at shooting arrows at another man playing Ravana. The two men then punched each other and pulled their hair until people from the audience separated them.

A 36-second video captured the moment. A wave of shock gripped the audience in response to what was supposed to be a dramatic play turning into an actual fight.

The translated caption of the post read, “In Amroha, UP, Ram and Ravan clashed in real life during a Ramlila performance. Ravan pushed Ram. People reached the stage and intervened.”

A user commented saying, “While acting Ramlila, Mahabharata actually happened.”

Another user said, “Acting seems to be taken too seriously”.

A third user said, “This Ravana turned out to be really powerful”.

Meanwhile, a user noted, “In this, Ravana beat Rama. The whole Ramayana was turned over.”

“One should stay within limits. It is a religious performance. What is the need to behave vulgarly?” read a comment.

There is more to the viral Ravans’ antics. The demon-king of the island of Lanka can be seen dancing to the Haryanvi song 52 Gaj Ka Daman in another widely shared festival video. Turns out even Ravana was unable to contain his enthusiasm for the tempting melodies of Haryanvi songs.
