As mid-October approaches, summer heat lingers across much of India, defying seasonal expectations of cooler temperatures. In many parts of the country, rain continues to fall, providing brief relief but delaying the anticipated onset of cold winds. In Delhi, the maximum temperature reached 33.6 degrees Celsius on Friday, and the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasts a similar temperature of 34 degrees Celsius for the weekend. A clear sky is expected on Saturday and Sunday. However, IMD predicts that after October 15, Delhi and Uttar Pradesh may finally experience cooler mornings, with a decline in daytime heat.

Despite an earlier yellow alert for light to moderate rain, many were surprised by the intensity of the downpour. The IMD now forecasts partly cloudy skies with moderate rain or thundershowers in the coming days for the city.

Heavy rain alert for 10 States
The IMD has issued a warning for heavy rains in 10 states between October 12 and 16, with a yellow alert in place for Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Karnataka, Goa, Maharashtra, Arunachal Pradesh, and Gujarat on October 12. The southwest monsoon is expected to withdraw from Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, and parts of Maharashtra, Bihar, and Jharkhand in the next one to two days.
