However, there are still many situations where cash is required. To get cash in India, one either has to visit the bank or go to an ATM. But there is another simpler option: you can withdraw cash using your Aadhaar card.

How to Withdraw Money Using Your Aadhaar Card?

If you need cash, you no longer have to visit a bank or ATM. You can use your Aadhaar card to withdraw money, but first, your Aadhaar card must be linked to your bank account in order to access this service. The National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) has launched the Aadhaar Enabled Payment System (AEPS) to facilitate cash withdrawals via Aadhaar. Through this system, you can use your Aadhaar card at any micro-ATM, authenticate via your fingerprint, and withdraw cash.

Steps to withdraw money using your aadhaar card :

1. Enter Your Aadhaar Number: First, at the micro-ATM, you need to enter your 12-digit Aadhaar number.

2. Fingerprint Verification: Next, place your thumb on the fingerprint scanner for authentication.

3. Select Transaction Option: After verification, various transaction options will appear, such as money transfer and cash withdrawal. Select the “Money Withdrawal” option.

4. Enter Withdrawal Amount: After selecting the withdrawal option, enter the amount you wish to withdraw.

5. Receive Cash: The bank operator will then give you the cash, and the amount will be deducted from your linked bank account. You will also receive a notification via SMS on your registered mobile number confirming the transaction.

How much money can we withdraw using your aadhaar card? 

Different banks have set different withdrawal limits for Aadhaar card transactions. Some banks allow withdrawals up to ₹10,000, while others permit withdrawals up to ₹50,000. However, for security reasons, some banks have disabled the Aadhaar Enabled Payment System (AEPS).
