The contrasting weather scenarios continue to scale the length and breadth of India. While Delhi recorded a maximum temperature of 37 degrees Celsius on Thursday (October 3), three notches above the season’s normal, the IMD has predicted heavy rainfall in several regions.
On Thursday, the national capital saw the humidity level at 46 per cent at 5.30 pm. The weather department has forecast clear skies for Friday, with the maximum temperature expected to reach 36 degrees Celsius and the minimum around 25 degrees Celsius.

Heavy rainfall in West Bengal
A low-pressure area is expected to develop over the north Bay of Bengal on Friday, leading to isolated heavy rainfall across various parts of West Bengal, the Met office announced on Thursday. The Met department indicated that, due to this weather system, heavy rainfall is likely in the sub-Himalayan districts until Saturday, with the potential for very heavy rain in a few isolated locations.
In a press release on October 3, the IMD said that Northeast India is set to witness isolated heavy rainfall during the next seven days, while Gangetic West Bengal is likely to see the same today.
Meanwhile, regions in Northwest, West and Central India are expected to see no significant rainfall in the next one week.

Rainfall in Southern states
The IMD has forecast that, moving southward, fairly widespread to widespread light to moderate rainfall is likely over Kerala, Mahe, Lakshadweep, and South Interior Karnataka in the coming week. Scattered to fairly widespread light to moderate rainfall is expected across Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Karaikal, Coastal Karnataka, and North Interior Karnataka. Additionally, isolated to scattered light to moderate rainfall is anticipated over Rayalaseema, Telangana, Coastal Andhra Pradesh, and Yanam throughout the week.
Isolated heavy rainfall is forecast for Kerala and Mahe over the next seven days. South Interior Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karaikal are likely to experience heavy rainfall from October 4 to 8, while Rayalaseema can expect it on October 4 and 5.
