Google introduces AI-supported ‘summary cards’ in Gmail – Here’s how it will help users

Google is set to transform the method Gmail uses to provide information to its users. The tech giant has recently unveiled a new upgrade in Gmail, which aims to streamline and manage the flow of information in the various inboxes of Gmail for its users. The upgrade consists of reformed summary cards and a new “Happening Soon” section. Both enhancements will provide users with a streamlined method to communicate with emails about bills, travel, events, and purchases.

Google informs that the restructured summary cards will have a more contemporary layout and feature new action buttons, letting users perform tasks such as inviting others, setting bill payment reminders directly from the card, and adding events to their calendars.

The officials from the tech firm say that summary cards are also turning out to be more potent on the backend, consolidating key data from across all linked emails and updating in real-time, hence users will always get to know when to expect their crucial deliveries. The “Happening Soon” Section is also being introduced to Gmail, which will be located at the top of the inbox and will show forthcoming events and time-sensitive details, beginning with purchase deliveries.

This will assist users in being in sync with important deadlines without sifting through separate emails. For instance, if the projected delivery date of a purchase is two days away, ‘Happening soon’ will highlight the purchase summary card, letting users see when their package is scheduled to be delivered at a glance. If they have several deliveries scheduled to be delivered in the same timeframe and the summary cards are loaded, they can expand it and dismiss or select to go directly to the associated email.

As per the reports, the AI-powered ‘summary cards’ will initially be rolled out for ‘Purchases’ for Android and iOS users. The upgraded summary cards will be accessible across all four categories like events, bills, purchases, and travel, and will pop up in individual emails, the “Happening Soon” section, and Gmail search results in the upcoming months.
