Is stock market closed on Wednesday (2nd October) for Gandhi Jayanti holiday?

As there is a bank holiday in most states on 2nd October over Gandhi Jayanti, investors are also checking whether the stock market will observe the holiday on the same date or not.

After a long time, India’s top stock exchanges, the National Stock Exchange (NSE) and Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE), will be closed on Wednesday, October 2 on the account of Gandhi Jayanti.

According to the BSE holiday calendar, there will be no trading on October 2 in the equity, equity derivatives, and SLB segments. The market will resume regular operations the next day.

Stock Market Holiday: Gandhi Jayanti (2nd October)

Indian stock exchanges, BSE and NSE, will be closed on October 2 in observance of Gandhi Jayanti, a national holiday commemorating the birth of Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi, one of India’s most influential leaders. This day holds historical significance as it honors Gandhi’s advocacy for nonviolence, civil disobedience, and truth as powerful tools for social and political change.

Additionally, the Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX) will also remain closed for both trading sessions on Wednesday, October 2, 2024.

Upcoming Stock Market Holiday In October 2024

After October 2 on account of Gandhi Jayanti there is no other holiday in October for the Stock market . The next market holiday will be on November 1 for Diwali.

There will also be a special muhurat trading session on Diwali but its timings are not yet announced.
