Farmers To Get Extra Rs 4,000 Under PM Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojna: Amit Shah

The BJP manifesto for J&K elections said that they will provide Rs 10,000 under PM Kisan Samman Nidhi.

Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) is a central program launched to increase the income of the Small and Marginal Farmers (SMFs). Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Friday said that farmers of Jammu & Kashmir (J&K) would be provided with an additional amount of Rs 4,000 under the PM KISAN scheme. At present, the farmers are getting Rs 6,000. Now, an additional Rs 4,000 will be given soon to the farmers. The same promise was made by the government in Ambala, Haryana. The BJP manifesto for J&K elections said that they will provide Rs 10,000 under PM Kisan Samman Nidhi, comprising the existing Rs 6,000 along with an additional Rs 4,000 to ensure the well-being of farmers in Jammu & Kashmir. Earlier, the outlay was at Rs 60,000 crore, now it shall be around Rs 1 lakh crore for FY25. The money will be directly transferred in three instalments — Rs 3,000, Rs 3,000, and Rs 4,000.

It is to be noted that the Centre had pegged the PM Kisan Samman Nidhi allocation at Rs 60,000 crore in the interim budget, with an allowance of Rs 6,000 per farmer per year. It remained unchanged in the Union Budget 2024 presented in July.

Apart from the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana, the Home Minister also made a big announcement regarding the Ayushman Bharat Yojana. Shah said that the insurance in the Ayushman Bharat Yojana will be increased from Rs 5 lakh to Rs 10 lakh. An additional Rs 5 lakh will be given to the elderly.

At present, the central government transfers Rs 6,000 annually to the accounts of the farmers of the country. Every 4 months, Rs 2,000 is transferred to the accounts of the farmers. Under this scheme, the money for the 17th instalment was released in June. As per the official website of PM Kisan Yojana, the money for the 18th instalment will be given to the eligible farmers on October 5, 2024.
