Linking UAN with Aadhaar is crucial for several reasons. It ensures seamless transactions in the Employees’ Provident Fund (EPF), including withdrawals, transfers, and contributions. By linking Aadhaar, the risk of having multiple or duplicate EPF accounts is minimized, consolidating all funds under a single UAN. This also enables faster PF withdrawals, as linking eliminates the need for employer attestation, allowing you to complete the process online. Additionally, it ensures compliance with government regulations for both employers and employees under social security laws.

The government has mandated that UAN (Universal Account Number) must be linked with Aadhaar for employers to submit Employee Cum Return (ECR) challans and transfer funds into EPF accounts. This requirement, outlined in a gazette notification dated April 30, 2021, aligns with Section 142 of the Code on Social Security, 2020.
