New Delhi: Arvind Kejriwal has reportedly proposed Atishi Marlena’s name to be the face of the next chief minister of Delhi. Atishi is a key face of the party as well as the government and holds multiple portfolios, including finance, education and PWD. Names of Delhi ministers Gopal Rai, Kailash Gahlot and Saurabh Bharadwaj were also making the rounds as contenders, party insiders added that Kejriwal’s wife Sunita Kejriwal and Assembly Speaker Ram Niwas Goel were also the probables.

Earlier today, the meeting of party MLAs commenced at Kejriwal’s residence around 11.20 am. The meeting began with an address by AAP national general secretary (Organisation) Sandeep Pathak. “The name of the new CM will be announced at 12 noon today after the legislative party meeting,” a party functionary said.
The party added that the Delhi Assembly will be convened on September 26 and 27.
Ahead of the legislative party meeting, Delhi minister Saurabh Bharadwaj ruled out the possibility of Sunita Kejriwal replacing her husband. “As much as I know Arvind Kejriwal’s politics, he won’t do that. Sunita ji herself is not interested,” he told reporters.
Kejriwal had announced his decision to resign from the post of chief minister on Sunday. He had said that he will only sit on the CM’s chair when people give him a “certificate of honesty”.
