Rainfall Forecast Today: IMD issues very heavy rainfall warning for Uttar Pradesh, Odisha, Jharkhand and other states – Check weather update

Weather Forecast: Heavy to very heavy rainfall is anticipated over Odisha, Chhattisgarh, Uttar Pradesh, and Madhya Pradesh today.

IMD Weather Update: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) in its latest weather forecast reported that the deep depression over Gangetic West Bengal is expected to move nearly northwestward, bringing extremely heavy rainfall to Jharkhand today. Additionally, heavy to very heavy rainfall is anticipated over Odisha, Chhattisgarh, Uttar Pradesh, and Madhya Pradesh for the next 24 hours.

Parts of Uttar Pradesh is likely to witness isolated very heavy rainfall today. According to IMD, light to moderate rainfall is expected to be fairly widespread over Vidarbha, Madhya Pradesh, and Konkan & Goa throughout this week. Chhattisgarh, Madhya Maharashtra, Marathwada, and Gujarat State can anticipate isolated to scattered light to moderate rainfall. Isolated heavy rainfall is likely in Bihar and Odisha today, while Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura can witness heavy showers on September 18 and 19. 

Isolated heavy rainfall is also expected in Uttarakhand on September 17 and 19, and in parts of Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh on September 18. Additionally, isolated to scattered light to moderate rainfall is anticipated across the southern region of the country  throughout the week. The Andaman & Nicobar Islands may experience isolated heavy rainfall on September 19 and 20.

Delhi weather update 

The national capital experienced a minimum temperature of 25 degrees Celsius, with the weather department forecasting overcast conditions for today. The regional meteorological office in New Delhi has also predicted light rain in the city during the evening and nighttime. The maximum temperature is expected to reach approximately 34 degrees Celsius.

Met issues yellow alert for 6 Himachal districts

The local meteorological center has issued a ‘yellow’ alert for thunderstorms and lightning in isolated areas across six districts of the state. Mild snowfall has been observed in the higher elevations of Kullu and Lahaul and Spiti districts, marking the beginning of winter. Khushal, a resident of Mari in Kullu, reported a drop in temperatures following the snowfall. According to the Met department, Keylong in Lahaul and Spiti recorded the lowest temperature in the state at 6.8 degrees Celsius, while Una experienced the highest temperature at 35.2 degrees Celsius.

Incessant rain lashes Jharkhand

The local Meteorological office has forecasted a break from the persistent rainfall that has been affecting Jharkhand for the past three days. Abhishek Anand, head of the Ranchi Meteorological Centre, indicated that while widespread rainfall is anticipated on Monday, a reduction is expected today. Light to moderate rain is predicted for various parts of Jharkhand on Tuesday. Anand noted that the weather system is slowly moving westward and should pass over Jharkhand within the next 24 hours. From June 1 to September 15, Jharkhand has received 867.8 mm of rain, which is 6% below the normal rainfall of 927.9 mm for this period.
