UP News: In preparations for the upcoming Assembly General Elections in Haryana, there will be a liquor prohibition in Uttar Pradesh’s border districts adjacent to Haryana. This measure is set to ensure a peaceful and orderly voting process. Divya Prakash Giri, the Special Secretary of Excise, has issued directives to the District Magistrates in the relevant areas.

UP Dry Day: Alcohol Sale Prohibited In THESE Districts

Voting in Haryana is scheduled for October 5, with the counting of votes taking place on October 8. To maintain public order, excise shops in the border regions of Uttar Pradesh including Aligarh, Baghpat, Gautam Buddha Nagar, Mathura, Saharanpur and Shamli will remain closed for 48 hours prior to voting and throughout the counting day. This restriction will apply within a 3 km radius of the borders.

Dry Day On October 2

Additionally, Uttar Pradesh along with the rest of the country, will observe a dry day on October 2 in honour of Gandhi Jayanti.

Haryana Assembly General Elections

Haryana will conduct elections for all 90 Assembly seats in a single phase. According to the election schedule released by Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar, the last date for filing nominations is September 12.

The political landscape in Haryana features a direct contest between the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Congress party. The BJP has been in power since 2014, while the Congress previously ruled from 2004 to 2014.
