BJP Announces 12 hours Bengal Bandh: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has announced a 12-hour ‘Bengal Bandh’ on Wednesday, August 28, in response to the ongoing unrest and criticism surrounding the West Bengal government’s handling of the rape and murder of a woman trainee doctor at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital in Kolkata.

The bandh is being organized to protest what the BJP claims is the government’s inadequate response to the horrific crime. BJP state president Sukanta Majumdar has sharply criticized the Trinamool Congress (TMC) for allegedly oppressing students and has accused the Left parties of tacitly supporting the government’s position by not joining the protests.

Majumdar has called on the public to participate in the bandh to show solidarity with the victim and to oppose the “politics of suppression” he claims is prevalent in Bengal. He argues that the government’s failure to address the issue effectively has fueled the unrest and further exacerbated the situation.

The move follows widespread outrage over the brutal murder of the trainee doctor, whose body was discovered in a seminar hall at the RG Kar Medical College and Hospital on August 9. The incident has triggered significant public outcry and protests demanding justice for the victim.
