On Camera: Dog Falls From Thane Building, Crushes 3-Yr-Old To Death On Street Below; Owner Arrested

A CCTV clip, which has been widely shared on social media platforms, showed the victim walking on a busy street in Thane along with two women, when a large dog falls on top of her, killing the toddler on the spot.

In a tragic incident, a three-year-old girl was crushed to death by a pet dog who fell from the fifth floor of a building in Thane district of Maharashtra. The heart-rending incident, which occurred on Tuesday (August 6), was captured on CCTV cameras installed in the area.

The CCTV clip, which has been widely shared on social media platforms, showed the victim walking on a busy street in Thane along with two women, when a large dog falls on top of her, killing the toddler on the spot.

As per the police, the dog, reportedly a Golden Retriever was tied to the terrace on the fifth floor of the building, when it managed to free itself and fell onto the street below on top of the three-year-old girl, killing her instantly.

The toddler was rushed to a nearby hospital where doctors declared her dead on arrival, they said.

A senior official said the dog’s owner, identified as Jaher Sayyed (24), has been arrested and a case registered against him.

Meanwhile, NCP (Sharad Pawar) leader, Jitendra Awhad has alleged that the family was threatened not to approach the police following the girl’s death.

The police registered an FIR against the dog owner after Awhad accompanied the aggrieved family to the police station, two days after the girl’s death, India Today reported.

The NCP has claimed that the dog was thrown from the building and urged the Thane Police to add the names of three more “accused” to the FIR, the report said.

However, the police have the disclosed the names of the other accused in the case, citing ongoing investigation.
