Bengaluru is infamous for its traffic woes, with many finding that getting from point A to point B often takes much longer than expected. Recently, a social media post highlighted just how severe the issue can be, showing that travelling by foot might sometimes be faster than driving in the city. X user Ayush Singh shared a screenshot of Google Maps comparing travel times for a route from Brigade Metropolis to KR Puram Railway Station which has a distance of 6 kilometres.

The screenshot reveals the driving route between the two locations would take approximately 44 minutes whereas walking would take around 42 minutes. This revelation comes as no surprise to locals. With Bengaluru’s status as India’s IT capital attracting a constant influx of professionals, the city’s infrastructure struggles to keep pace with the growing population. As a result, traffic congestion has become a persistent issue, making even shorter trips a time-consuming endeavour.

Sharing the screenshot, Singh wrote, “This happens only in Bangalore.”

On a more constructive note, some users pointed to the metro as a solution. “Look between them to see why the metro is the most important infrastructure for the city,” one user stated, noting the metro route takes only 13 minutes between the two destinations.

Another chimed in with, “You have an option to go in metro. Just 2 stops away. Don’t complain!”

“My buddy and I would check maps before getting on the office shuttle; half the times we’d end up walking back home gappe marte (while gossiping) hue as it was faster,” someone else shared.

A user criticised, “yet they want to focus all their energy on kannada vs other languages. it’s like roof is leaky in rainy season but all discussion is about wall paint colour.”
