WhatsApp To Soon Change Green Verified Badge To Blue For These Users? Here’s What We Know

WhatsApp is going the Facebook and Instagram way soon by offering the blue verified badge for accounts.

WhatsApp is undoubtedly the go-to messaging application for millions of users across India. However, it is not just individuals who use the application for communication. The Meta-owned app is also the most preferred application when it comes to interacting with businesses.

Be it clothing brands, food businesses, or automobile companies, businesses interact with their consumers via the instant messaging app to answer queries and address issues. To let these businesses stand out and ensure their authenticity, the tech giant launched a green checkmark placed next to the name of verified channels to allow users to identify them.

However, in a recent report by WABetaInfo, WhatsApp has plans to replace it with a different checkmark with WhatsApp beta for the Android 2.23.20.18 update. Reportedly, a screenshot shared revealed that the meta-owned app is working to replace the green verification badge with a blue checkmark for verified channels and businesses.

In addition to this, the report also suggested that the tech giant wants to make the verification badges consistent across all Meta platforms, similar to the blue checkmarks on Facebook and Instagram. Currently, WhatsApp is testing this change publicly and some beta users can see the new update.

As per the screenshot from the tipster, WhatsApp would align the icon with Meta’s branding and create a unified experience across other Meta platforms by changing the current verification badge colour to blue.

It is worth noting that the introduction of the new blue checkmark will still stand as a mark for authenticity, guaranteeing users that they are interacting with verified channels or businesses. The development of the blue checkmark for verified channels and businesses aims to boost user trust and reduce the risk of impersonation.

As of now, this new feature is made available to a few beta users who have installed the latest WhatsApp beta for Android from the Google Play Store. However, it will be soon rolled out to other users in the coming weeks, reported the media outlet.
