How To Check If Aadhaar Is Linked To PAN Card? Check Steps

Pan-Aadhaar Link: Taxpayers need to link their Aadhaar and PAN by May 31 i.e. Recently, the Income Tax Department has issued a fresh reminder to taxpayers for the same. Taxpayers have been told to link their Permanent Account Number (PAN) with Aadhaar by May 31, 2024, to avoid higher TDS deductions. In such a scenario, you should check whether your Aadhaar is connected to your PAN or not. You can check this via SMS and other methods as well.

Who needs to connect PAN with Aadhaar?

People over the age of 80 are not required to link PAN-Aadhaar, in addition, according to the Income Tax Act, non-residents or those who do not have Indian citizenship, residents of the states of Assam, Jammu Kashmir, and Meghalaya are also exempted from linking PAN Aadhaar. Except these, individuals who have not connected PAN with Aadhaar. Their PAN card has been deactivated.

How to know whether your Aadhaar is linked to PAN 

– Write an SMS – Write UIDPAN followed by a space.

– After that write the 12-digit Aadhaar.

– After that write the 10-digit PAN.

– It must be in format like –  UIDPAN <12 digit Aadhaar number> <10 digit Permanent Account Number>

–  Next, send it to 567678 or 56161.

– You need to wait for a while. If your Aadhaar is connected to your PAN, you will receive a message that your PAN is connected to your Aadhaar. 

How to connect Aadhaar-PAN via SMS

– First, type UIDPAN (space) 12 digit Aadhaar number (space) PAN number from your mobile

– Send an SMS to 567678 or 56161 from your registered mobile number.

–  You will get a message confirming that Aadhaar has been connected to PAN.

How to link Aadhaar-PAN online

– visit eportal.incometax.gov.in or incometaxindiaefiling.gov.in, the official portal

– If you are not registered, register yourself.

– Your PAN and UID number will be your user ID.

– Next, log in to the portal using your user ID, password, and date of birth.

– A pop-up notification will appear on your screen as a request to link PAN to Aadhaar.

– If you do not receive a notification, open the ‘Quick Links’ section.

– Select Link Aadhaar on the homepage.

– Type your PAN number, Aadhaar and click on the checkbox.

– Enter the captcha code on the screen.

–  After providing all the details, you will get a confirmation notification of linking Aadhaar with PAN.

– Your PAN will be connected to Aadhaar.
