Airtel, Google partner to offer cloud, genAI solutions to enterprises

For Google, the partnership will help it to provide generative AI services as well as expand its cloud offerings to enterprises leveraging services from telecom operators.

Bharti Airtel and Google on Monday announced a partnership to offer cloud and generative artificial intelligence (AI) solutions to businesses in the country.

The companies will provide businesses with solutions like geospatial analytics, location intelligence for spotting trends, predictive capabilities, market assessment, site selection, risk management, and asset tracking.

Other solutions such as voice analytics for conversational applications trained across languages, marketing technology to forecast consumer behaviour, perform tailored audience segmentations, and streamline content creation, will also form part of the offering.

For Airtel, Google’s partnership will help to provide an updated suite of cloud managed services to its customer base of over 2,000 large enterprises and 1 million emerging businesses.

Notably, Google is an investor in Airtel with a 1.18% stake.

To power its cloud-based solutions business, Airtel has set-up a managed services centre in Pune with over 300 experts. The experts are being trained on Google Cloud services and develop world-class tech solutions.

“As India accelerates its digital transformation, cutting-edge cloud and AI solutions will be at the heart and centre of this change,” said Gopal Vittal, managing director & CEO at Bharti Airtel.

“We are happy to partner with Google Cloud and jointly address this market opportunity with secure and scalable Cloud solutions for government, enterprises, and emerging businesses,” Vittal added.

According to IDC, the public cloud services market is expected to reach $17.8 billion by 2027.

“Through this partnership, we aim to explore and build transformative solutions that can enhance Airtel’s customer experiences,” said Thomas Kurian, CEO, Google Cloud.

Airtel will also leverage Google Cloud’s generative AI capabilities to transform its customer experiences and interactions across its offerings of mobile, broadband, and digital TV, and to streamline its internal processes and operations.

In 2019, Jio also announced its partnership with Microsoft to offer Azure, Microsoft 365 and Microsoft AI to businesses in the country.
