Weather Update: IMD predicts heavy rainfall in Maharashtra, Odisha and THESE states; duststorm likely in UP, Rajasthan – Check forecast

According to IMD’s weather forecast, the heatwave condition will likely prevail again over West Uttar Pradesh, South Haryana, and West Rajasthan on May 16.

The Indian Meteorological Department in its latest weather bulletin has stated that there will be wet spells along with thunderstorms over East and Central India until May 14 and in the southern region of India till May 16. According to IMD’s weather forecast, the heatwave condition will likely prevail again over West Uttar Pradesh, South Haryana, and West Rajasthan on May 16.

The IMD release also indicated that a western disturbance is present in a cyclonic circulation over north Pakistan with a trough in middle tropospheric westerlies. Additionally, similar weather is lying over south Rajasthan and another one over West Uttar Pradesh in lower tropospheric levels.

Hot and Humid weather is projected for Kutch and Saurashtra in the upcoming four days.

Western Disturbances to affect several parts of north India

Under the influence of Western disturbance, there will be widespread rainfall activity along with thunderstorms and lightning. It is expected to lessen its impact over Himachal Pradesh, Ladakh, Jammu-Kashmir, Muzaffarabad, Uttarakhand, Gilgit, and Baltistan on May 13 and May 14.

Rainfall relief for Delhi, Haryana, Chandigarh, Punjab & Rajasthan

The weather regulator has informed that there is a high chance of isolated to scattered light to moderate rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds over Delhi, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Chandigarh, and Rajasthan today and will continue till May 16.

Duststorm in UP and Rajasthan

The IMD also notified about the duststorm accompanied by thunderstorms predicted to persist in East Uttar Pradesh and East Rajasthan on May 13. Meanwhile, strong surface winds can also be experienced over South Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh in the next two days.

Heavy rainfall warning

Heavy rainfall is expected over Sikkim, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Odisha from May 13th to May 14th because of cyclonic circulation which is lying over South interior Karnataka. Parts of Maharashtra, Konkan, and Goa will also get similar weather conditions during the same period. Heavy downpours is likely to continue over Kerala, Mahe, Puducherry, Tamil Nadu, and Mahe till May 16th.

Temperature to watch

As per the IMD bulletin’s latest update, there will be no major changes in the maximum temperatures over Northwest India in 24 hours, and an upsurge of about 3-5°C can occur in the next 3 days. However, a decline of 2-4°C in the maximum temperature is expected over Karnataka and Maharashtra in next three days. It also added that there will be no notable changes in maximum temperatures over the rest of India.
