Sanju Samson has pipped KL Rahul for the second wicket-keeper’s slot in the Indian squad for the T20 World Cup 2024.
New Delhi: Rishabh Pant and Yuzvendra Chahal have been included as the BCCI announced the final 15-member squad for the T20 World Cup 2024 to be held in USA and West Indies. As expected, Rohit Sharma will be leading the side while Yashasvi Jaiswal made the cut over Shubman Gill. Hardik Pandya has been named as the vice-captain of the side.

However, KL Rahul didn’t find a place in the side with Sanju Samson being preferred over the Lucknow Super Giants skipper. Pant, who returned to cricket after 14 months in the ongoing IPL following a horrific car accident, will be India’s first-choice wicketkeeper while Samson will be the back-up keeper in the side. Meanwhile, Chahal, who was omitted in the Asia Cup and ODI World Cup last year, has foinally found a place in the squad following his IPL 2024 heroics with the ball.
India have included Arshdeep Singh as the only left-arm pacer in the side. The Men in Blue had missed a left-arm fast bowler in the last edition of the tournament.

With Mohammed Shami missing due to injury, Mohammed Siraj will partner Jasprit Bumrah while opening the attack. Meanehile, Shivam Dube has been rewarded for his consistent shows with the bat for Chennai Super Kings in IPL 2024. He has been preferred over Rinku Singh, who didn’t many chances to prove his worth in this ongoing tournament.
