Ashneer Grover reacts on fresh MCA notice to BharatPe: ‘Nothing to do with me’

The Ministry of Corporate Affairs has issued a fresh notice to fintech major BharatPe. The development was confirmed by its co-founder Ashneer Grover on X. Grover to the social media platform to voice his opinion on the MCA notice. He said that he was ‘happy’ that the ministry is actively looking in the company concerns of BharatPe.

He further added that he has already moved the NCLT against BharatPe. However, Grover also clarified that the MCA notice has been sent to BharatPe and not to him. He reiterated that he has not received any notice by the ministry and that it has nothing to do with him.

According to reports, the Ministry of Corporate Affairs has sought status on workings of the company and the details of all the proceedings that it started against Grover. Apart from this, status report on Delhi Police’s Economic Offences Wing has also been sought.

In 2022, the Ministry of Corporate Affairs (MCA) requested details from BharatPe regarding its internal governance, investments in mutual funds, and the provision of stock options to independent directors, including the chairman, former State Bank of India chief Rajnish Kumar.

On February 2, Grover and his wife, Madhuri Jain Grover, filed a petition with the Delhi High Court, contesting lookout circulars (LOC) issued against them in connection with an ongoing inquiry by the Delhi Police’s Economic Offences Wing (EOW).

Last year, the EOW initiated an FIR against the Grovers and their relatives for allegedly misappropriating funds, resulting in losses amounting to Rs 81 crore to Resilient Innovations Private Limited, the operator of the UPI platform BharatPe. On November 16, 2023, during their planned travel to the United States, the couple was halted at Terminal 3 of the Indira Gandhi International Airport and informed about the existence of an LOC against each of them.
