The Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) has attached 668 properties in the national capital as the civic authority launched a crackdown on property tax defaulters.

In the past week, the Assessment and Collection Department of the Municipal Corporation has seized 74 commercial and industrial properties worth Rs 23.81 crore, officials said.
These properties are located in the areas of Rohini, Mahipalpur, Dwarka, Mahavir Enclave, Netaji Subhash Place, Wazirpur Industrial Area, Saket District Centre, Anand Parvat, Shakurpur, Saroop Nagar, Rithala, Budh Vihar, Ashok Vihar, Punjabi Bagh, and Siraspur.

Additionally, the civic body is also in the process of prosecuting major tax defaulters. If taxpayers fail to pay their outstanding taxes, further action to auction such properties will be initiated, officials added.
The Municipal Corporation has issued online notices to more than five lakh taxpayers who did not file taxes either in 2021-22 or in 2022-23, requesting them to file their taxes within 15 days.
Coercive action under the provisions of the Delhi Municipal Corporation Act will be taken, authorities warned.
