South Korean giant Samsung launched the Samsung Galaxy Watch Series6 in India at the Galaxy Unpacked 2023 event with the Galaxy Watch6 and Galaxy Watch6 Classic models. In the latest move to improve the user experience, the company announced blood pressure (BP) and electrocardiogram (ECG) tracking in India on these watches. The option will be available after an OTA (over-the-air) update. These two enhancements are an attempt to improve the health monitoring and regular checkups experience on the watch.

The Samsung Health Monitor BP and ECG tracking can “complement” the regular medical checkups via the Samsung Health Monitor App. This apparatus has received regulatory approvals from India’s Central Drugs Standard Control Organisation. Users can download the Samsung Health Monitor App on the Galaxy Store. These features will debut on the Galaxy Watch4 and Watch5 series soon, the company noted in its press release.

“Blood pressure test measures the pressure in the arteries as the heart pumps and is done as a part of a routine health check-up.” The latest watch also gets a Photoplethysmogram (PPG) sensor that can record systolic and diastolic pressure, and pulse rate and present the stats in the Samsung Health Monitor app.
