Sensex Today: Equity benchmark indices extended gains in Friday’s opening deals, looking past weakness in the global markets. The BSE Sensex rose 300 points to 71,145 and the NSE Nifty50 gained 90 points to 21,748.

NTPC, Wipro, M&M, SBI led gains on Sensex. Bajaj Auto, Hero Moto were top Nifty winners.
On the flip side, Nestle, Sun Pharma, Cipla, Britannia and IndusInd Bank were the few frontline drags.
The broader markets were also firm. The BSE MidCap and SmallCap indices rose up to nearly 0.6 per cent.

Global Cues
Asian stocks wobbled on Friday, keeping global equities on track to snap a nine-week winning streak, while the dollar was poised for its strongest weekly advance since mid-July as bets on aggressive Federal Reserve rate cuts were rolled back.
Tokyo stocks opened higher on Friday as a weaker yen against the dollar buoyed exporter shares, while traders awaited US jobs data due later in the day.The Nikkei 225 added 0.33 per cent, or 109.23 points, to 33,397.52 at the open, while the broader Topix index climbed 0.40 per cent, or 9.57 points, to 2,388.36.

The S&P 500 and Nasdaq Composite closed lower on Thursday, extending their losing streak that kicked off 2024, although the Dow Jones Industrial eked out a win on the back of financial stocks and strong jobs data.
