The IMD predicts a fall in minimum temperature in Delhi-NCR next week due to a western disturbance which is expected to cause snowfall and rainfall in Himachal Pradesh.
Noida: Residents of Delhi-NCR are likely to experience cooler temperatures as the night temperature is expected to fall in the coming week. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted a gradual drop in the minimum temperature by 2-3°C, as a western disturbance is anticipated to bring snowfall to the higher regions of Himachal Pradesh and rain to the lower areas of the hill state. “A new western disturbance is expected to impact northwest India starting December 11. This occurrence will usher in chilly winds from the Himalayas, potentially causing a decrease in the minimum temperature by around two degrees,” said an IMD official.

Noida Temperature
Noida recorded 25.1 degrees Celsius during the day and 10.2 degrees at night on Friday, while neighbouring Ghaziabad witnessed a maximum temperature of 23.7 degrees Celsius and a minimum temperature of 13 degrees yesterday. On Saturday, isolated areas in Noida and Greater Noida are expected to witness dense fog early morning hours.
As per a bulletin from the System of Air Quality and Weather Forecasting and Research (SAFAR), Delhi-NCR will have cloudy skies in the morning and a mostly clear sky will remain in the later part of the day.
“The predominant surface wind is likely to be coming from northwest directions in Delhi-NCR with a wind speed of 8-15 kmph. While there will be fog on Saturday morning, a mostly clear sky will remain in the later part of the day,” the bulletin stated.

No Rainfall Forecast
According to the weather department, there is no chance of rainfall in the coming days in Delhi-NCR. Meanwhile, the air quality marginally improved but overall remained hazardous. Yesterday, Noida and Ghaziabad recorded an AQI of 253 and 275 against Thursday’s 279 and 284, respectively.
As per SAFAR, the air quality of Delhi-NCR will remain in the ‘poor’ category today.

Tamil Nadu Weather Forecast
Another significant weather development is in Tamil Nadu, where parts of the state are expected to witness light to moderate rain until December 10, with heavy rain likely to be confined to one or two locations in the Western Ghats districts on Friday.
Balachandran, Additional Director General of Meteorology in Chennai, mentioned that there is no significant weather system in the next three days. Light rain may occur in Chennai due to local cloud cover until Saturday. On Saturday, wind convergence could bring rain to isolated places in districts along the Western Ghats.
From December 11, the state is anticipated to transition to dry weather conditions, with only isolated instances of rain. Tamil Nadu has received 37 cm of rainfall so far, which is 3% below its average of 38.3 cm for the season since October 1. In the past 24 hours until 8:30 a.m. on Thursday, Varattupallam in Erode district recorded 11 cm of rainfall, the highest in the state for the day.
